We obtained defect signal enhancement relative to the surrounding wafer pattern when compared to bright-field imaging. The new DIC module proposed is based on a shearing interferometer, which connects externally at the output port of an optical microscope, and enables imaging thin samples, such as wafer defects. This module does not require polarization optics (such as Wollaston or Nomarski prisms), and is insensitive to polarization, unlike traditional DIC techniques. In addition, it provides full control of the DIC shear and orientation, which allows obtaining a differential phase image directly on the camera (with no further digital processing), while enhancing defect detection capabilities, even if the size of the defect is smaller than the resolution limit. Our technique has the potential of future integration into semiconductor production lines. © 2018 Optical Society of America

Resonant Interference Effect in Scattering of an Electron by an Electron in the Field of Two Pulsed Laser Waves
Resonant scattering of an electron by an electron in the field of two unidirectional pulsed laser waves is studied theoretically. The interference kinematical region is considered. Stimulated emission and absorption of external waves’ photons by electrons is correlated in the interference region. Resonance condition in the interference region is specified. Analytical expressions for the amplitu...

The main purpose of the paper is to present the impact of the polarization state of light in fiber optic interference sensors on their stability and efficiency. The main application of interference-based sensors for security is the protection of wide area objects, especially perimeter protection. This type of sensor offers high accuracy of locating disturbances and a high certainty of detection...
متن کاملA Time-Based Parallel Digital Interconnect Test Method for MCM Substrate Interconnect Networks
A Parallel Digital Interconnect Test (PDIT) method for Multichip Module (MCM) substrate interconnect networks was described in previous publications. This technique provides 100% detection of catastrophic faults (hard shorts and opens) but has limited resolution for resistive defect detection. A minor modification to this method, which relies on timing information, greatly increases the resolut...
متن کاملDifferential interference contrast polarization anisotropy for tracking rotational dynamics of gold nanorods.
We describe differential interference contrast (DIC) polarization anisotropy for tracking rotational dynamics of gold nanorod (AuNR) probes. DIC polarization anisotropy enabled us to reveal the unidirectional clockwise circular translocation of an AuNR attached to a kinesin-driven microtubule and to precisely determine the real-time orientation of the AuNR during the dynamic process.

We demonstrate the use of field-emission scanning electron microscopy for rapid imaging of small-diameter carbon nanotubes on insulating SiO2 substrates. The image contrast stems from local potential differences between the nanotube and substrate and is insensitive to surface roughness and defects. This technique may also be used as a probe of the electrical connectivity of small structures wit...
